Nitrogen fertilizer prices rose in July 2022 as spillover from European natural gas price increases lifted costs. Ammonia prices were high, while UAN prices fell after a US International Trade Commission vote against levies on Russian and Trinidadian UAN imports.
Higher European gas prices raise the cost of nitrogen production, which feeds through to higher fertilizer costs for US grain producers and supports feed-grain production costs.
