Philippine Agriculture Secretary Tiu Laurel urged House lawmakers to amend the Rice Tariffication Law, arguing it stripped the NFA of its ability to regulate supply and stabilize prices. He said cheap imports drove palay farmgate prices down to as low as P8 per kilo.
