Live cattle futures fell about $5 on the August contract and $8 on October during the week, as headlines included a plan by President Trump to increase beef imports and the reopening of the Mexican border at an Arizona port. Cash fed steer trade was about 40,000 head at $217-220 live, and boxed beef closed modestly lower.
Expanded beef imports and reopened Mexican cattle flows add supply to a market where packers hold leverage, pressuring fed cash cattle and feeder prices lower.
