Analyst Nirgunan Tiruchelvam of Religare Capital Markets said emerging-market currency weakness after Trump's election win will boost soft commodities such as palm oil and rubber. Local-currency producers gain as dollar-priced commodities translate into higher domestic revenues.
The rupiah and ringgit both fell sharply against the dollar in the days after the vote.
Weaker producer currencies make palm oil more competitive and raise local-currency prices, supporting palm-based feed ingredient prices.
