The National Pork Board CEO says the US pork industry must grow market share at home and abroad, with about a quarter of US pork exported. He warned that talk of renegotiating NAFTA is a concern, since Mexico is the largest importer of US pork and Canada is also part of the agreement.
Pork export demand, particularly from Mexico, underpins hog prices, so any threat to NAFTA trade flows would pressure hog values and related feed demand.
