Indonesia's energy ministry has proposed raising the CPO export levy to cover a biodiesel subsidy shortfall. An industry group says the increase would hurt smallholder farmers and reduce Indonesia's competitiveness, and that existing levies already burden growers.
A higher Indonesian export levy would raise the cost of Indonesian palm oil exports, supporting Malaysian and other origin prices while tightening Indonesian export competitiveness.
