The Trase Yearbook 2018 finds six firms, including Bunge, Cargill, ADM, COFCO, Louis Dreyfus and Amaggi, handled 57 percent of Brazilian soy exports in 2016 and were linked to over 65 percent of Brazilian deforestation over ten years. It also finds zero-deforestation commitments have not notably reduced deforestation risk.
Concentration of traceable soy trade and deforestation scrutiny may influence buyer requirements for Brazilian soy, but the report is unlikely to move prices on its own.
