An industry opinion piece argues Congress must extend the biodiesel and renewable diesel tax incentive, which expired at the end of 2017 and has not been renewed for 2018. It notes that 60 companies and groups sent a letter to congressional leaders urging a multiyear extension before adjournment.
Without the tax credit, biodiesel production economics are weaker, so renewal would support soybean oil demand while continued expiry leaves that demand uncertain.
