It notes palm prices weakened from early 2017 through late 2018 amid the US-China trade war, cutting FFB prices for independent smallholders.
Lower FFB prices reduce smallholder incomes and can slow harvesting and replanting, tightening future palm supply over time. Fund-allocation changes affect the biodiesel subsidy gap and therefore domestic palm demand.
