Meat & Livestock Australia reports that the US beef herd recovered to 94.8 million head at the start of 2019 after falling to 88.5 million in 2014. The resulting rise in US beef production and exports is adding competitive pressure on Australian export markets.
The US herd slowdown in future supply should ease export competition and support cattle prices in both countries. Buyers may see firmer beef and cattle values as the herd cycle turns.
