African swine fever has killed 21 wild boar near Zielona Gora in western Poland, close to the German border. Authorities extended the fence by 56 km, ordered hunters to remove boar in the area, and deployed soldiers to search forests.
No cases have been found in domestic pigs.
Wild boar cases near the German border can trigger export restrictions on Polish pork, which could shift trade flows, but no domestic herd losses have occurred so far, so price effects are limited.
