Indonesia's Energy Ministry said the B30 biodiesel mandate, a 30% palm-based blend, is expected to improve its trade balance. The ministry targets 10 million kilolitres of FAME production in 2020 and estimates savings above US$4.8 billion from biodiesel use.
A firm biodiesel mandate absorbs more palm oil domestically, reducing exportable supply and supporting palm oil prices. Higher FAME targets point to continued strong palm demand from the fuel sector.
