The Indonesian palm oil association submitted comments to the EU Trade Policy Review, arguing that the EU has singled out palm oil in deforestation and certification reviews. It says palm oil is unfairly targeted to protect EU oilseed producers.
Possible EU measures targeting palm oil would reduce Indonesian export access and could support vegetable oil prices, while shifting demand toward other oilseeds, but the review is still at consultation stage.
