Engro Fertilizer reported first-half 2020 profit after tax down 38% year on year as urea and DAP offtake and prices fell. The company declared an interim dividend of Rs 4 per share and said its market share could rebound to 36%.
Management said it may raise urea prices if the unregistered-dealer sales issue is not resolved and discussed exporting surplus urea using RLNG.
Possible urea price hikes and export of surplus product would tighten Pakistani domestic supply and could lift nitrogen prices. The outcome depends on the unresolved tax and dealer issue.
