Ethanol industry leaders are promoting higher blends, including E15, to recover from a 2020 slump in which demand fell about 45% and about 30% of plants were idled. The EPA has lifted its summer E15 sales restriction, and Kansas and other states are launching promotional campaigns.
Wider E15 use could significantly expand ethanol demand and corn use, which would support corn prices. The EPA's policy change adds to the case for a demand recovery.
