Authors Simon Bager and Martin Persson summarised their analysis of 1,141 proposals, grouped into 86 ideas, for curbing tropical deforestation linked to EU consumption. They highlight two promising measures with strong stakeholder support and note the EU plans legislative proposals this year.
The EU's planned deforestation legislation could eventually tighten sourcing of palm oil, soybeans and other feed-related imports. For feed buyers this is a medium-term compliance and cost consideration rather than a near-term price driver.
