Malaysia's Veterinary Services Department suspended imports of cattle and buffalo from Thailand after lumpy skin disease was reported in at least 41 Thai provinces. Importers were told to cancel bookings and authorities increased border surveillance.
The suspension cuts off a regional source of live cattle and buffalo for Malaysia, which could tighten local supply and support beef prices. The effect on feed grain markets is negligible.
