Federal-State market news reported 253,500 feeder and stocker cattle receipts for the week ending February 28, down from 332,300 the previous week. Extreme cold and winter storms caused auction cancellations, and feeder steers and heifers sold 1 to 3 dollars lower.
Cattle futures also fell on grain prices and global uncertainty.
Lower auction receipts tighten feeder supply but weak demand and grain-driven futures losses offset that support. Feeder prices are under pressure from high feed costs.
