USDA data shows US oat production in 2022 at 57.655 million bushels, up 45% from 2021, on a 37% gain in harvested area and a yield of about 64.8 bushels per acre. State-level figures for Illinois, Iowa, Minnesota, Michigan and Kansas are included, and the next USDA supply and demand update is due October 12.
A sharp rise in US oat supply loosens feed oat availability and points to lower oat prices after the tight 2021 crop. Buyers should expect more supply relief in the coming months.
