AEGIC is developing a long-term strategy to grow Australian oat markets, which are mainly for milling. Australia exports about 355,000 tonnes a year, roughly 25% of its crop, and is the main oat supplier to China.
Canada is the largest global exporter.
Export diversification reduces Australian oat price risk and supports demand over time, but the change is gradual and has little immediate effect on global oat prices.
