The US dollar fell against the Vietnamese dong on the black market on Friday, with unofficial exchange points selling dollars at VND23,530, down 0.08% from Thursday. The State Bank of Vietnam lowered its reference rate slightly to VND23,600, and the dollar has depreciated about 0.38% against the dong so far this year.
A softer dollar against the dong reflects easing global rate expectations and reduces pressure on Vietnam's import costs for feed ingredients priced in dollars. The move is small, so the price effect on feed buyers is limited.
