India allowed exports of multigrain and fortified whole wheat atta under advance authorisation, provided the product has at least 80% whole wheat flour and other ingredients are domestically sourced. Millers may import wheat for re-export under the scheme.
Wheat and wheat product exports otherwise remain banned.
The change is a narrow exception that adds only small volumes of processed wheat product, so its effect on global wheat prices is minimal.
