Latin American currencies gained against a softer dollar on Thursday, and the Brazilian real snapped a three-day losing streak, rising 0.3%. The move followed Brazil's government unveiling 13 measures to ease consumer credit access and reduce costs in capital and insurance markets.
The Mexican peso and Colombian peso also rose modestly, and the dollar index drifted 0.1% lower.
A weaker dollar and a firmer real make Brazilian exports and Latin American producer currencies more attractive, which can slow farmer selling of soy and corn and support dollar prices for feed ingredients. The effect on feed prices is modest, since the move is small and driven mostly by credit policy.
