EU-27 palm oil imports fell about 16% to just under 1.4 million tonnes in July 1 to December 10, 2024 versus the prior year, according to Commission data reported by UFOP. Indonesia and Malaysia shipments dropped sharply, while Italy, Germany and others increased imports.
Lower EU palm oil imports, partly blamed on deforestation rules, reduce demand for palm oil in Europe and add mild bearish pressure on global palm prices.
