India approved a quota for 200,000 tonnes of wheat exports to Nepal, with exports handled by National Cooperative Exports Limited. Nepali traders say the quota is late and too small, having requested 300,000 tonnes six months ago.
This is the third quota India has issued for Nepal since its 2022 wheat export ban.
The quota is small relative to global wheat trade and arrives late, so its effect on world wheat prices is limited. It mainly affects regional supply for Nepal's flour mills.
