The EU formally adopted new tariffs on Russian and Belarusian fertilizers, adding EUR 40/tonne on most nitrogen fertilizers and EUR 45/tonne on DAP, MAP and NPK grades from July 1. Rates rise further in 2026 to 2028, with immediate application if import quotas are exceeded.
Urea markets were awaiting India's June 12 tender, and processed phosphate prices were climbing.
Higher EU import costs on Russian and Belarusian nitrogen and phosphate reduce supply options for European buyers and support global urea and DAP prices. This tightens the fertilizer cost base for crops used in feed grains.
