The September JRC MARS bulletin says summer drought and heatwaves caused irreversible yield losses in Hungary, Romania, Bulgaria and parts of Türkiye. Maize and sunflower are most affected, with forecasts well below the five-year average, while northern Europe expects above-average harvests.
Lower southeast European maize and sunflower yields tighten feed corn and sunflower meal supplies, supporting prices for those feed ingredients.
