Vietnam's fragrant 5% rice fell to $430/mt FOB on October 16, its lowest level since September 2022, according to Platts. The Philippines has extended its rice import suspension to April 2026 with a limited January exception, leaving Vietnam's key buyer largely absent.
The extended Philippine ban removes a major source of export demand, so Vietnamese exporters struggle to find new deals. Prices are likely to stay under pressure through the final quarter of 2025.
