Asian rice export prices were muted this week, with Indian 5% broken parboiled quoted at $343-$350 per ton. Vietnam's 5% broken was offered at $350-$355, down from the prior week, as buyers waited for freight rates to ease after Middle East conflict raised shipping costs.
High freight costs and subdued Vietnamese and Thai demand are holding back export activity and pushing Asian rice prices lower. Relief depends on freight rates easing.
