The dollar fell sharply against the yen on April 30 after officials signalled possible intervention to support the Japanese currency. USD/JPY dropped from about 159.5 to 157.8 within minutes, and the dollar also eased against the euro as oil prices dropped.
A weaker dollar tends to support dollar-priced commodities, while the drop in oil removes some energy-driven cost pressure on feed and fertilizer.
