CME live and feeder cattle futures ticked lower on Friday, pressured by grain and soy rallies, fund selling and a higher dollar. President Trump said he was preparing a legal order to let farmers and ranchers process their own food, aimed at breaking what he called a monopoly among major processors.
Industry players said the impact on meat supply would likely be limited.
Policy moves aimed at lowering beef prices and loosening packer control add bearish sentiment to cattle futures, though analysts see little physical supply effect. Feeder and live cattle prices are the main exposure.
