UBS expects EU gas storage to reach only 74% before winter and fall to about 25% by winter-end. EU storage was 72% full on 29 September, versus 87% on the five-year average, and Asian LNG arrivals rose as Japan and Korea competition for spot cargoes increased.
A low European winter buffer and stronger Asian demand will keep European gas and ammonia-based fertilizer costs firm, which supports urea prices. Higher energy costs for European crushing and processing could add modest upward pressure on feed costs.
