The Indonesian Palm Oil Association warns that a 10% CPO export levy could make Indonesian palm oil less competitive against neighboring producers. Businesses also expect lower export volumes, especially with stagnant domestic production.
The levy plan is linked to the B40 biodiesel program starting in January.
Lower Indonesian export volumes would tighten global palm oil supply, but weaker competitiveness could also shift demand to Malaysian product, leaving the net price effect mixed.
