November Nymex natural gas jumped as much as 6-9% on October 20 to its highest level in a week, ending a two-week losing streak. The move followed forecasts of dramatically colder temperatures across the central and eastern U.S. for late October and early November.
Earlier-than-usual storage withdrawals are projected as heating demand rises, which tightens the supply cushion and supports gas prices. Higher natural gas costs raise energy expenses for feed and grain processing.
