OmniTrax signed a memorandum of understanding with the Missinippi Rail Consortium of northern Manitoba First Nations to transfer ownership of the Port of Churchill and Hudson Bay rail line. The sale price is unknown, and federal approval is still required before the 2017 grain season.
The pending ownership change could restore the Churchill export route for Prairie grain, which would ease logistics constraints and freight costs for feed grain supplies.
