Cash hog prices in the US have recovered sharply over the past two weeks after a counter-seasonal decline in March and April. The recovery is attributed to strong export demand, with US pork exports up about 25 percent year over year.
Strong export demand for US pork is absorbing heavy production and supporting hog prices into the summer. Continued export growth would help sustain the price recovery.
