The IEA forecasts global gas demand will grow 1.6% a year to about 4,000 bcm by 2022, with China providing 40% of the growth. US output is expected to supply 40% of the world's additional gas production to 2022.
Strong demand growth is supportive for gas prices, but the large expected rise in US supply limits the upside. The outlook matters for longer-term energy input costs.
