A University of Georgia climate outlook notes the Southeast is well above normal in temperature so far in 2018 and precipitation has been below normal since January 1, with drought expanding in parts of the region. The author expects the La Niña event to fade by late spring, possibly bringing dry weather in May and June.
Dry spring conditions in the Southeast could affect planting of row crops and peanuts regionally. The effect on feed grain prices is limited given the regional scope.
