The rupee opened slightly weaker at 73.63 per dollar on October 19 as the dollar strengthened after minutes from the US Federal Reserve showed continued support for tightening. Crude oil was firm and foreign investors continued to sell Indian shares.
A firmer dollar and steady capital outflows keep the rupee under pressure, supporting Indian import costs. The impact on feed markets is modest and mainly through purchasing power.
