Indonesia has halted its export tax on crude palm oil and derivatives until January 2020, according to Economic Coordinating Minister Darmin Nasution. The suspension was approved by President Joko Widodo and ties to the start of the B30 biodiesel program.
The export tax would have applied if prices stayed between US$570 and US$619 per tonne.
Suspending the levy supports Indonesian exports and domestic farm-gate prices, while B30 is expected to lift palm oil demand. Prices are near the levy threshold, so the policy could change if prices rise.
