The USDA projects world oilseed production to rise 5% in 2020-21 to a record 605.9 million tonnes, with soybean output up 26.6 million tonnes to a record 362.8 million. Global oilseed consumption is forecast to grow 2%, the fastest pace since 2017/18, helped by recovering Chinese feed demand after African swine fever.
Record supply is bearish for oilseed prices, but stronger consumption and reduced ending stocks partly offset that and support meal demand for feed.
