A USDA AMS investigation found that cattle and beef prices reacted as expected to the Tyson Holcomb plant fire and the COVID-19 disruption. The report does not examine potential Packers and Stockyards Act violations, and that investigation is continuing.
The finding removes some regulatory uncertainty around packer margins but does not change near-term supply or feed demand for cattle.
