USDA's October WASDE lowered 2019/20 U.S. corn ending stocks by 258 million bushels to just under 2 billion, after the September grain stocks report had already surprised the market. Corn domestic use rose to 12.1 billion bushels on higher feed and residual use and exports.
Planted area for 2020/21 was also cut by about 1 million acres.
A smaller old-crop carryout and higher feed use tighten U.S. corn supplies and support prices for feed buyers. The planted area cut adds to the case for a firmer new-crop balance sheet.
