Fern hosted a webinar on enforcing due diligence rules for forest-risk commodities, drawing on a Fern report that reviews the EU Timber Regulation, the EU Conflict Minerals Regulation and the US Lacey Act. The discussion focused on how a new EU due diligence regulation against imported deforestation could be designed and enforced.
A possible EU due diligence rule on deforestation could eventually raise compliance costs and traceability requirements for imports such as palm oil and soy. The effect on feed prices would be gradual and depends on the rules adopted.
