A federal judge on Tuesday granted BNSF a temporary restraining order that bars the unions from striking over the new attendance policy. The judge agreed that the dispute was minor under the collective bargaining agreement, and the order expires Feb.
8. BNSF said the policy will improve crew availability and predictability.
The ruling removes the immediate threat of a rail stoppage that could have disrupted grain and feed shipments. Rail risk remains a factor if the dispute is not resolved when the order expires.
