Sorghum premiums over corn fell sharply in the second quarter of 2022, with July sorghum priced at a $1.70/bu discount to corn and the sorghum-to-corn ratio dropping to 0.76. The decline is tied to reduced U.S. sorghum export estimates for 2022/23, now 5 million MT versus 7.4 million MT the prior year.
Lower sorghum exports and a wider discount to corn weaken feed sorghum demand, making corn the more competitive feed grain for buyers and pressuring sorghum values.
