NCBA's Kent Bacus and Dan Halstrom closed a Stockmanship and Stewardship virtual event on Nov. 1 with a keynote on international trade policy.
Bacus described trade as complicated and noted the US finishes about 95% of its beef on grain, which sets it apart from grass-fed producers like India, Brazil, China and the EU.
Trade access for US beef shapes export demand for higher-value cuts and therefore cattle values. This keynote is general commentary with no new policy action, so the direct price impact is limited.
