The US EIA weekly average retail diesel price fell 4.9 cents to $3.487 a gallon, the benchmark used for most fuel surcharges. ULSD futures on CME dropped sharply over the prior two weeks, with a partial rebound on Wednesday.
Lower diesel costs reduce trucking and feed delivery expenses and ease fuel surcharges for feed buyers. Futures weakness suggests the downward trend in diesel may persist in the near term.
