The Fed's policy rate remains in the 4.25%-4.50% range after its July meeting, and its hawkish message has pushed the dollar to a two-month high. The dollar index rose 1% but is still down about 8% for the year.
Fewer expected rate cuts keep the dollar firmer, which tends to pressure US commodity prices and support foreign-currency-based buyers' costs in relative terms.
