The dollar index fell to a 1.5-week low on Friday as swaps markets raised the odds of a December Fed rate cut to 83%, up from 30% a week earlier. Reports that Kevin Hassett is a top candidate to succeed Powell as Fed Chair also weighed on the dollar.
A weaker dollar on rate-cut bets tends to support dollar-priced commodities. Fed leadership expectations add uncertainty to the currency outlook.
